Hawke's Bay Wine Country is located on the East Coast of the North Island of New Zealand. It is renowned for its excellent climate and is often referred to as the 'Mediterranean of New Zealand'. With over 2200 hours of sunshine annually, more often than not the region will be bathed in sunshine and clear blue skies.
Hawke's Bay is the country's oldest winemaking region and is New Zealand's leading producer of many award-winning wines. Enjoying a winery tour is a must whilst in the area, or you might like to plan your visit to coincide with a wine and food festival. The region also hosts a number of ‘must see' events throughout the year such as the fabulous Mission Concert featuring world famous musicians.
The jewel in Hawke's Bay's crown is the vibrant city of Napier, offering a world-class concentration of Art Deco architecture, many lively cafe's and bars, specialty shops, and an energetic arts scene.
Outdoor activities include playing a round of golf at Cape Kidnappers Golf Course (one of the most prestigious golf courses in the world), visiting the gannet colony at Cape Kidnappers, paragliding off Te Mata Peak, tramping through beautiful native bush or enjoying a day at a golden sand beach such as Waimarama or Ocean Beach.
